Find a Changemaker Working on Your Issue 

Time:  45 minutes

Students will search for and study the work of successful human rights defenders who have championed a cause similar to or the same as the students’ issues of choice.

After this lesson, students will be able to...

 

  • identify a creative changemaker whose area of cause or use of medium match their own.
  • explain why the creative changemaker of they selected resonates with them.
  • make comparisons and find contrasts between their own work and those of others.
  • identify what makes a creative changemaker’s work effective. 



Guiding Questions

  • Who else cares about my issue?
  • What can I learn from other human rights defenders?
  • How will I apply what I learned from my human rights defender of choice to my own campaign?
  • How will my campaign differ?
